Poll that will upset Musk: 67% of Americans would not consider buying Tesla

Elon Musk has long been a controversial figure, but recent actions and statements have turned even more people against the billionaire.
His scandalous performance at Trump's inauguration, where he performed a performance that looked suspiciously like a Nazi salute, angered and offended many and people responded by ignoring his companies' products and services. There has been a huge churn of users from social network X/Twitter, Canadians have cancelled their expensive contract with Starlink, and sales of Tesla electric cars have dropped significantly, especially in Europe.
Here's What We Know
YouGov and Yahoo News conducted a poll among American adults to find out how they feel about the possibility of buying Tesla after all the scandals, and the results were disappointing for Musk:
- 67% of Americans wouldn't even consider buying Tesla;
- 18% of Americans might buy Tesla;
- 13% are hesitant;
- 2% already own a Tesla.
Reasons cited for rejecting Tesla include:
- Ilon Musk's behaviour - 20%;
- Elon Musk as part of the negativity toward Tesla - 17%;
- Ilon Musk is not a reason - 27%;
- undecided - 3%;
- did not specify the reason - 33%.
Overall, attitudes towards Musk in the US have worsened significantly since last year, with only 39% of Americans now viewing him favourably, compared to 55% who view him negatively.
It is noteworthy that the respondents were asked to specify their political views and it turned out that among the respondents Republicans have a worse attitude to Musk than Democrats.
Thus, the percentage of dissatisfaction with Musk is as follows:
- Democrats - 30%
- Republicans - 32%
- independents - 27%
- other - 2%
- did not specify - 8%.
To summarise, it cannot be overlooked that Musk is doing huge reputational damage to the Tesla brand with his actions. Europeans are already massively refusing to buy these electric cars, many Americans also consider Tesla toxic and this has significantly reduced the company's share price.
