Previously this feature was only available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, but now it can be used by users of the free version as well. However, free accounts are restricted to a maximum of three images per day.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that the popularity of the tool caused a huge demand, which led to an overload on the company's graphics processors. As a result, OpenAI has temporarily imposed limits on the frequency of image generation. Users who want to generate more images can upgrade their account to the Plus version or wait for the limit to be reset.
