Starting from 3 April, Call of Duty players will be able to disable crossplay in unrated games, which will reduce the number of cheaters in matches

Finally, console players who are tired of cheaters in Call of Duty have won! Activision will allow crossplay to be disabled in regular non-rated matches starting with Black Ops 6 Season 3. This long-awaited feature comes six years after crossplay became a key feature of Call of Duty in the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot.

Here's What We Know

Until now, players could only limit crossplay in the ranked modes of Call of Duty and Warzone. But from Season 3, this feature will be extended to Unrated Multiplayer. After the start of Season 3 on 2 April, the crossplay options will be as follows:

  • Enabled: Allows matchmaking of players from all platforms
  • Enabled (consoles only): Allows matchmaking with other consoles only
  • Off: Restricts player matching to your current gaming platform

Activision warns that the "consoles only" option "may negatively impact queue times" and admits that setting crossplay to "Off" will definitely slow down player matchmaking.

However, Reddit user NothingSeemsToSpeak also weighed in on the crossplay features, saying that if consoles can selectively kick PC players out of their lobbies, PC players should be able to choose which consoles can enter theirs.

"As a PC gamer, I just want to be able to turn off the PlayStation because of how often their controller microphone plays music with a baby crying in the background," he wrote.

But in any case, the chances of encountering a cheater will be much less likely for console players very soon.
