Audi is selling its fastest racing cars to collectors
For the first time in Audi's history, the legendary LMP and DTM prototypes are now available for purchase in fully operational condition. You can buy a true endurance race winner.
Here's What We Know
Audi has launched a special Audi Sport Racing Legends project to restore and sell a limited number of racing prototypes from former factory programmes. The featured models are some of the fastest race cars ever built by the company with the four-ring logo.
Rolf Michl, managing director of Audi Sport, said that the company restores chassis with original parts of the time, adhering to strict standards and maintaining a high level of expertise. In some cases, even developers from that era are involved in the projects.
Among the models featured:
- Chassis 207 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, on which Romain Dumas, Loïc Duval and Marc Genet took the first victory of the RP2 generation in the WEC World Endurance Championship at Spa-Francorchamps in 2012.
- The 107 RS 5 DTM chassis on which Timo Scheider won the DTM final at Hockenheim in 2015.
The start of sales is marked by the presentation of these rarities on 2 April in Neuburg an der Donau for selected collectors. The Audi Sport racing legends project will also be presented at specialised events:
- 9-11 May at the Jim Clark Revival in Hockenheim (Germany)
- 3-6 July at Le Mans Classic (France)
- 10-13 July at the Festival of Speed at Goodwood (UK).
The first car is due to be sold and delivered to the new owner this summer. The Audi Sport service will include comprehensive support: regular technical checks, repair services, parts supply and expert advice from former developers. The company will also provide support during events.
