Nintendo will open pre-orders for the Switch 2 console as early as next week, but as it turns out, it's not a hot topic for US gamers just yet.

Here's What We Know

Nintendo announced in advance that the Switch 2 was available for pre-order in the US from 9 April, but an event has happened that has affected almost every nation: the Trump administration has announced the imposition of unprecedented trade duties, which in some cases are as high as 50%.

As such, Nintendo has announced that it is indefinitely postponing the start of Switch 2 pre-orders in the US to assess for itself the potential impact of the tariffs.

This news was shared by The Verge's editorial team, but there has been no official statement from Nintendo yet.

For gamers in other countries, nothing has changed: they will still be able to pre-order from 8 April, with sales of the console starting on 5 June.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will likely be priced differently in the US, and will cost $/€450 in the rest of the world.
