During the Senate hearings, General Christopher Cavoli, the senior US officer in Europe, said that Russia had lost more than 4,000 tanks during the full-scale war against Ukraine. According to him, this is a number that is "almost equal to the entire United States tank corps".

Here's What We Know

Cavoli stressed that the scale of the war is impressive, and such losses are unprecedented in modern armed conflicts. He also emphasised the critical importance of US assistance to the Ukrainian armed forces, particularly for air defence and precision strikes against enemy logistics and command posts.

The general warned that a withdrawal of US military and intelligence support would "have a rapid and detrimental impact" on Ukraine's ability to fight.

It should be noted that since the inauguration of President Donald Trump in early 2025, no new military aid packages have been announced. In fact, for a while, the US even suspended the delivery of weapons that were already on the way, as well as intelligence that helps Ukraine to strike deep into Russia.
