Mercedes-Benz Trucks presented the new eArocs 400 electric truck for the construction industry at the bauma trade fair in Munich, Germany.

Here's What We Know

Mercedes-Benz Arocs diesel trucks have been operating on construction sites around the world for many years, having established themselves as proven workhorses. Now, for the first time, a battery-electric version with the prefix "e" to its name has been added to the range. The novelty produces minimal noise and has no harmful emissions from the engine.

For the new eArocs 400, Mercedes-Benz Trucks used the basic components of the eActros 600 truck, including the lithium-iron-phosphate battery (LFP). These batteries are characterised in particular by their high durability and particularly high usable capacity. The model will initially be available in 32 and 41 tonne payload versions in 8x4 axle configurations with four different wheelbases and can be built as a concrete mixer or construction tipper.

Mercedes-Benz eArocs 400 features:

  • on-board mains voltage: 800 volts
  • batteries: 2 pcs., installed directly behind the driver's cab
  • battery capacity: 414 kWh
  • driving range: up to 200 kilometres as a cement mixer and up to 240 kilometres as a tipper.
  • charging standard: CCS2
  • charging power: up to 400 kW
  • fast charging speed at maximum power from 20 to 80 per cent: approx. 45 minutes
  • engine power: 380 kW (constant) and up to 450 kW (peak)

The eArocs 400 is equipped with a centre-mounted engine and a 3-speed gearbox. The proven Arocs planetary axles provide the ground clearance and off-road capability required for construction site deployment. In the concrete mixer versions, the drum drive can be either hydraulic or fully electric.

For driver comfort, the cab features a 12-inch dashboard display and a touch screen Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 system with voice control. In addition, the vehicle received a set of modern safety systems, including brake assistant and emergency stop function when detecting dangers in front or behind.

Thanks to its localised CO2 neutrality while driving, the eArocs 400 can enter low- and zero-emission zones in urban areas and is also suitable for noise-sensitive environments such as residential areas, hospital surroundings, schools and kindergartens. The machine is also suitable for nighttime construction sites.

A small series of 150 eArocs 400 vehicles per year for selected EU markets is currently planned for production. Sales are expected to start in Q1 2026, with the first delivery in Q3 2026.
