The second season of The Last of Us has received its first reviews from critics, who describe it as "uniquely brutal" and "emotionally devastating". The season, consisting of seven episodes, adapts the events of the second part of the video game and takes viewers five years ahead, showing Ellie and Joel in new circumstances.

Here's What We Know

Critics note that the series maintains a high quality of storytelling and is quite emotional, as was typical for the first season. The A.V. Club emphasises that by changing certain aspects of the game, the series honours the source material by paving a "uniquely brutal, painful and moving path". Slash Film adds that the success of the show depends on the ensemble cast, and every aspect of the production is aimed at giving them the opportunity to shine.

However, some observers have expressed concern about the end of the season. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the finale leaves a sense of incompleteness, as many questions remain unanswered.

Nevertheless, the series received a high rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, which indicates its positive perception by critics.

The second season of The Last of Us starts on 13 April.
