Korean Hanwha to help Poles manufacture their Krab howitzers
South Korea's Hanwha Aerospace has signed a contract with Poland's Huta Stalowa Wola SA (HSW) to supply chassis and propulsion systems for 87 Krab self-propelled howitzers. The deal is worth about $280 million and the supply will last from 2026 to 2028.
Here's What We Know
The 155 mm Krab howitzer is Poland's main artillery system, developed by HSW with Hanwha as a key component supplier. The new agreement strengthens a partnership that began in 2014. This is the third such contract between the companies.
During the signing of the agreement in Stalowa Wola, Hanwha Aerospace President Jaeil Sung emphasised the "ironclad relationship" between Poland and South Korea, which was formed by the success of the first batch of 120 Krab units.
He also reaffirmed the company's commitment to cooperation with Polish industry, stressing the importance of local production and joint security.
