Fans of the Silent Hill series who own a Steam Deck have some interesting news - the new instalment of the franchise, Silent Hill f, will be compatible with the portable console. However, there are a few nuances that should be taken into account before starting the game.

Here's What We Know

Valve has officially tested Silent Hill f on Steam Deck and confirmed its compatibility. However, the game did not receive the green status of "tested" due to several restrictions:

  • Graphics settings: Players will have to manually change the graphics settings to ensure the game runs smoothly.
  • Small text: Some interface elements may be difficult to read on the Steam Deck screen.
  • Performance: The game can run at minimum PC system requirements, which means 720p resolution at 30 frames per second.

This may be acceptable for portable mode, but is not ideal for playing on a connected monitor or TV.

Silent Hill f will be the first game in the series set in 1960s Japan. The script is written by Ryukishi07, a well-known author of visual horror novels such as Higurashi When They Cry. The game is being developed by NeoBards Entertainment, a Taiwanese studio, and the characters and monsters are designed by Japanese artist Kera.

Currently, the exact release date of Silent Hill f has not been announced, but it is known that the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Konami promises to share more information in the future, so it is worth staying tuned.
