Neil Druckmann, the head of Naughty Dog, shared his thoughts on the possibility of creating the third part of the popular game series The Last of Us. According to him, the studio is currently focused on the development of a new project called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which takes up all their time.

Here's What We Know

Druckmann noted that he perceives each project as potentially his last:

"I treat these projects as if they're the last thing I'm going to work on. That's why my opinion is that there will be no more [sequels]. But if the stars align and everything works out, who knows?"

He also emphasised that the first part of The Last of Us had a complete story, as there was no certainty of a sequel. However, the success of the game led to the development of the second part, for which the studio had an idea that they were passionate about. Now, according to Druckmann, the story has come to a logical conclusion.

It's worth noting that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is scheduled for release no earlier than 2026. Therefore, if the third part of The Last of Us appears, we will have to wait for it for a long time. In the meantime, the second season of the HBO television adaptation of The Last of Us starts on 13 April.
