The Polish defence company Nitro-Chem has signed the largest contract in its history with the United States for the supply of TNT worth PLN 1.2 billion (about EUR 276 million).

Here's What We Know

According to the agreement, in the period from 2027 to 2029, the American company Paramount Enterprises International (PEI) will be supplied with 18,000 tonnes of explosive.

The new long-term agreement was announced during a signing ceremony in the presence of Cezary Tomczyk, Deputy Minister of National Defence of Poland. He stressed that the contract is "colossal" and demonstrates the international importance of the Polish defence industry.

The TNT from Poland is intended for the needs of the US government's weapons programmes, in particular for the production of 155 mm artillery ammunition and aerial bombs. Jacek Matuszak, a representative of the state-owned defence conglomerate PGZ Group, stressed that the new agreement exceeds all previous contracts signed in 2023 and 2024.

At the same time, Nitro-Chem noted that the contract will not require additional production capacity or personnel - the order will be fulfilled with existing resources. The Bydgoszcz-based manufacturer is Europe's largest TNT supplier and one of the world's leading, actively expanding its presence in the markets of NATO countries, as well as in Italy, Spain, France, Sweden, Portugal and the UK.
