The Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov said that the Lithuanian government has allocated €10 million for the purchase of modern Ukrainian long-range weapons for the needs of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

Here's What We Know

According to Umerov, these weapons are already being used at the frontline and demonstrate high efficiency, providing range, accuracy and firepower. Lithuania and Ukraine are currently working on allocating another tranche of €10 million, which will increase production and strengthen the Armed Forces' ability to hit targets at strategic depth.

The funds are expected to enable the purchase of at least 50-100 long-range drones, including the Palyanytsia drones previously announced by Lithuania. These are drones with turbojet or conventional engines capable of hitting important targets deep inside Russia.

In addition to funding, Lithuania also intends to deepen cooperation with Ukraine in the production of strategic weapons. According to Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovile Šakalienė, the countries have already reached preliminary agreements on the development of joint production both in Lithuania and Ukraine.

She stressed that Ukraine's defence industry has the potential to become a global player thanks to its practical combat experience, engineering competence and strategic vision.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military assistance worth around €800 million. The total amount of long-term assistance has exceeded €1.5 billion.
