Rumour: Sony is working on a portable PlayStation 6 that will be "between Xbox Series S and PS5" in terms of performance
Interesting rumours have emerged about a portable version of PlayStation 6. Insider KeplerL2, who previously reported on the development of two different SoCs for the PS6, clarified that the portable console will be able to run PS5 games, albeit with certain graphics and performance compromises.
Here's What We Know
Later, an insider on the NeoGaf forum explained that the portable PS6 "will definitely be able to run PS5 games, but not at the same resolution/frames per second, mainly due to lower memory bandwidth".
KeplerL2 also tried to outline where the portable PS6 would stand in comparison to current consoles, suggesting that it would be "somewhere between the Xbox Series S and PS5" in terms of performance. However, he added that it is difficult to make accurate estimates because it uses an unannounced GPU architecture.
It is worth remembering that this information does not come from official Sony channels, so it should be treated with a certain amount of scepticism. Meanwhile, Sony has announced a price increase for the PlayStation 5 in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
