Leslie Benzis, a key figure in the development of Grand Theft Auto V, left Rockstar amid a high-profile conflict. However, he has now shared his thoughts on GTA VI, believing that the "geniuses" at Rockstar will create an incredible game.

Here's What We Know

"There have always been a lot of geniuses out there who are constantly creating something new, unique, and on a scale that few people can afford," Benzis said in an interview with GamingBible.

In 2016, Benzis filed a lawsuit against Rockstar's owner, Take-Two, demanding $150 million in royalties and claiming that he was forced to leave the company. Take-Two, in turn, called Benzis's claims "completely without merit" and said he left the company after "significant performance and behavioural issues".

Benzis is now the head of a new studio, Build A Rocket Boy, which is preparing to release its own game, MindsEye. Naturally, players are already drawing parallels between it and GTA, and Benzis admitted that he expected such comparisons.

"There will always be comparisons. The first question is always about the old game, but I think it's human nature," Benzis said. "You know, it's like Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters, people were more interested in Nirvana. It's going to take us a little bit of time to find our own identity."

MindsEye is scheduled for release in June for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is published by Hitman developer IO Interactive.

As for GTA 6, it is expected to be released later this year on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The exact release date has not yet been announced.
