Game Pass is not a perfect solution and is not suitable for all people, especially if they don't play much, says Phil Spencer

While Xbox is undergoing a transformation, expanding its presence on other platforms, the Game Pass service remains a stable source of revenue for Microsoft. Despite the obvious benefits it offers, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer believes that Game Pass is more of a convenient option than an absolute necessity for players.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with Variety, Spencer emphasised:

"For me, Game Pass is a healthy option for certain people. It is not for everyone. If you play one or two games a year, Game Pass probably isn't the best business model for you, you should just buy those two games and it makes perfect sense. But I want you to have a choice."

He emphasised that Game Pass is one of several models available to players, alongside traditional purchases and free-to-play.

"I've always seen Game Pass as just another option for people who want to play. We have many business models for players, from free-to-play to in-app purchases and discounted games," Spencer explained.

Game Pass is just one of the options

The head of Microsoft Gaming also admitted that although console sales remain stable, they are not a growing segment for the company. This prompted Microsoft to invest more in PC and cloud gaming to reach a wider audience.

As a reminder, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now allows you to play your games in the cloud, saving time and space on installing them.
