The Panamanian National Air Force (SENAN) will receive four E-314 Super Tucano light attack aircraft. The deal was announced by Brazilian company Embraer during the LAAD Defence Security exhibition.

What is known

The Super Tucano will be the first strike aircraft at the disposal of the SENAN. Previously, the service had only modified Cessna 208s, which were used, in particular, for aeromedical evacuation.

Panama became the eighth country in Latin America to purchase these aircraft. Prior to this, the Super Tucano was ordered by Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic. Paraguay and Uruguay placed their orders only last year.

In particular, Paraguay bought six aircraft on credit for $104 million, and Uruguay bought six aircraft for $100 million with payment over 10-15 years. The terms on which Panama purchased the aircraft are currently undisclosed.

It should also be noted that the E-314 Super Tucano is designed to perform a wide range of missions: air patrol, border control, reconnaissance, special operations support and pilot training. In total, Embraer has produced more than 290 of these aircraft, which have flown more than 580,000 hours in 20 countries.
