A thorny path to the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong has already become a legend among gamers, years pass, and fans continue to wait impatiently. But it looks like the wait is coming to an end - Hollow Knight: Silksong is likely to be released this year. And, by a strange coincidence, the fan mod Hollow Knight: The Sanctuary fan mod, which until now was as silent as the long-awaited game itself, has also broken its silence.

Here's What We Know

Hollow Knight: The Sanctuary, an ambitious fan mod that resembles a full-fledged expansion, was loudly announced back in 2021, accompanied by a spectacular trailer. Almost four years later, amid the recent news of Silksong's release, the mod's lead developer Stizzl has finally shared some fresh information about this massive project.

Apparently responding to the rumours of the mod's cancellation, Stizzl succinctly wrote on Twitter: "A secret that has been well kept for years: The Sanctuary is alive," adding a short video with dynamic gameplay.

Shortly after the announcement of the search for testers, Stizzl thanked everyone who had already applied: "Thank you to the many people who have already applied for testing. We don't need any new applications at this time, but we hope you'll stay tuned to learn more about this mod in the coming weeks!"

The Sanctuary promises to take players to a brand new location where new friends, enemies, and giant bosses await. The mega-mod also includes all-new music, challenging platforming challenges, and a tragic story about a nation of insects seeking refuge.

At the time of the announcement, The Sanctuary seemed like a great way to pass the time while waiting for Silksong to come out. Now that Team Cherry's official sequel has a release window of 2025, it looks like fans' patience will be rewarded with a real influx of Hollow Knight content.
