The vampire thriller Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, has triumphantly burst into the box office, topping the box office on its opening weekend and beating even the movie Minecraft.

Here's What We Know

Thanks to rave reviews from critics and the star power of the cast, Sinners grossed a solid $45.6 million in the US, becoming the most successful original film to launch since Jordan Peele's We in 2019.

Outside of the US, Sinners managed to gross $15.4 million, bringing its opening weekend total to $61 million. The film's budget was $90 million, but at this rate, it has every chance of starting to make a profit.

Despite forecasts for a third consecutive weekend of leadership, the Minecraft film lost the top spot, but still showed a strong result, collecting $41.3 million and taking second place, and the film's total worldwide gross exceeded $720 million.
