The high-profile remaster of Oblivion has one thing wrong with it: Bethesda hasn't added mod support

The long-awaited remaster of Oblivion is finally out and is already conquering the game charts, as evidenced by its leadership on Steam. However, Bethesda shared some not-so-good news, officially confirming the lack of official support for mods for its updated Oblivion.

Here's What We Know

Thanks to mods, many Bethesda games remain popular for years after their release. The company even released official modding tools, the so-called Creation Kit, for such hits as Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Starfield. This time, however, the situation is different: in the FAQ section of its website, Bethesda clearly states: "Mods are not supported for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered".

However, modders are already actively researching the Oblivion remake to find out what is hidden under its new Unreal Engine 5 shell. One Reddit user has already reported that the remastered files can be opened in the original The Elder Scrolls Construction Set. The absence of official tools may slow down the process of creating mods, but perhaps not for long.

However, with or without mods, interest in the Oblivion remaster is extremely high. The game topped the Steam bestseller list within an hour of its release (it currently has a Very Positive rating on Valve's platform with a minimum number of complaints) and this is at a price of $50 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
