It's official: Ghost of Yotei will be released on 2 October - Sony has unveiled a spectacular trailer for the new PlayStation 5 exclusive

Sony and studio Sucker Punch have revealed the release date for the ambitious samurai action game Ghost of Yotei, which will in part be a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, the acclaimed 2020 game.

The developers have unveiled a spectacular trailer that shows off both gameplay episodes and staged scenes, and for the most part it focuses on a gang called the "Yotei Six" - they're the ones that protagonist Atsu will hunt down to avenge the murder of her family.

The video confirms that the new game is conceptually not much different from Ghost of Tsushima, but looks even more colourful, technological and spectacular.

The new PlayStation 5 exclusive will be released on 2 October, with pre-orders opening on 2 May 2025.

Gamers will be offered several editions, including a collector's edition.
