PlayStation 5 players, get ready for another nostalgic immersion. Sony has announced a new update for PS5 that will bring back some of your favourite classic themes from past generations of consoles. Temporary PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4-style interfaces created in honour of the 30th anniversary of PlayStation will be available again very soon due to huge fan demand.

Here's What We Know

In its blog post, PlayStation announced that the latest system software for PS5 will be available on 24 April 2025 and will be "rolled out globally in phases". This means that some players will have to wait a little longer than others, but eventually everyone will receive the update.

Players who want to apply one of these nostalgic UI themes can find them in Settings > System > Appearance > Appearance & Sound.

It is not yet known whether the iconic PS1 startup screen will also return, or whether it will be limited to system themes. Nevertheless, the opportunity to see the familiar colours and interface elements of your favourite consoles of yesteryear again will undoubtedly please many PlayStation 5 owners.
