Apple is preparing to announce iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 at its annual WWDC developer conference in June 2025.

Here's What We Know

According to previous rumours, these updates will contain the biggest changes in recent years with interface elements inspired by the visionOS operating system.

Recently, new information has emerged that iPadOS 19 will feature a macOS-like menu that will appear at the top of the screen when the iPad is used with the Magic Keyboard. This will bring the user experience much closer to laptops, namely MacBooks.

In addition, iPadOS 19 will feature an updated Storage Manager 2.0, as well as an improved multitasking mode. This feature will automatically activate when you connect a keyboard, making working with applications and windows more convenient and productive.

iOS 19 will add support for external displays for iPhones with a USB-C port. This will allow users to connect their smartphones to monitors or TVs and use an interface similar to Stage Manager. While this mode will not be a full-fledged desktop mode, it will allow the use of an external device's screen, but with restrictions on the resolution and number of applications open at the same time.

The first beta version of iPadOS 19 should be available after the WWDC 2025 keynote on 9 June, but some new features will be activated only in the following beta versions.

As a reminder, Apple will appeal the $570 million fine from the EU for violating the DMA.
