Intel executives have announced a new policy requiring employees to work in the office four days a week from 1 September 2025.

Here's What We Know

The company's CEO Lip-Bu Tan attributed the decision to a desire to improve collaboration, speed up decision-making and strengthen team bonding. He stressed that face-to-face interactions foster more productive discussions and debates, and help create "vibrant collaboration hubs" that reflect Intel's corporate culture.

Previously, the company followed a hybrid model because of the pandemic, allowing corporate employees to work remotely 2 days a week. However, Tan noted that adherence to that policy was "uneven" because Intel's factory workers and many researchers are already on site every day. Intel employs thousands of people in corporate positions and the new working model involves spending more time in offices.

The new initiative also comes with organisational changes, including fewer meetings and a simplified management structure. Job cuts are also expected, although the exact number has not yet been specified.
