According to the latest information, Apple may increase the RAM size to 12GB only in some iPhone 17 models. The company is facing supply shortages and component price hikes, which may limit the availability of this upgrade for all smartphones in the upcoming series. However, analysts report that this will be fixed in the iPhone 18 series, where Apple will be able to improve the situation and equip all models in the lineup with 12GB RAM.

Here's What We Know

Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that only the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models will get 12GB of RAM, while the base version will remain with 8GB due to an increase in component prices by about 50 per cent.

Moving to 12GB of RAM increases the average price of the device, forcing Apple to limit the number of models with this improvement. However, in 2026, the company could negotiate more favourable terms with suppliers, which would lower costs and make 12GB the standard for the entire iPhone 18 lineup.

Apple wants to implement the new RAM quantity standard to improve its devices' multitasking, support for AAA games, and enhance generative artificial intelligence capabilities. But the company may not fully achieve this goal due to the situation with new tariffs that affect component supply. However, these predictions remain preliminary and have yet to be officially confirmed.
