In March this year, Apple introduced the new iPhone 16e. This smartphone replaced the iPhone SE model, but since it received the same numbering as the rest of the iPhone models, the question arose: will Apple release a new "e" model every year?

Here's What We Know

According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple has not yet made a final decision on the future of this series of smartphones:

Gurman said that the iPhone 16e is an improved version of the iPhone 16 with minor changes, which distinguishes it from the iPhone SE 3. He also noted that Apple has started to advertise it as part of the iPhone 16 line, rather than as a new iPhone SE, which makes the model attractive to buyers, particularly in China. However, the question of whether the company will update the "e" line every year has not yet been resolved.

If Apple does decide to release the iPhone 17e, it is likely to go on sale in late winter or early spring, about a year after the current model's release.

What will change in the new iPhone 17e? It is expected to have a new A19 chip and several features from the iPhone 17, including the ability to control the camera with Camera Control, which is not available in the iPhone 16e.

Nevertheless, Apple has not yet decided whether it will produce the iPhone 17e, so rumours about this model will not appear soon. Gurman believes that regular updates to the "e" line could help Apple remain competitive in the affordable smartphone market.
