iPhone 2027: why the new design may cost more
Apple is preparing for significant changes in the iPhone design for the 20th anniversary of the smartphone in 2027. Although most details have not yet been revealed, one thing is certain: the company plans to use more glass in its flagship device.
Here's What We Know
This special edition iPhone is likely to cost more than usual, and here's why.
One of the main factors that will increase the cost is the customs tariffs on goods from China, which look set to remain in place for the coming years. Right now, most of the tech sector is enjoying an exemption, but it won't last long.
Apple has already set up production of iPhones in India, but it is not possible to fully transfer production to this country. The company can now produce about a third of the annual demand in the US in India, but this process takes more time.
According to Bloomberg sources, although iPhone production in India has reached a level of quality that meets Chinese standards, the production of anniversary models may be more difficult. This is due to new parts and production technologies that may not be available outside of China in 2027. Moreover, Apple has never released a new model with significant changes without having Chinese production.
It is worth reminding that Apple continues to work on its own smart glasses. According to Mark Gurman in his latest issue of Power On, the new product is codenamed N50 and will integrate some of Apple's artificial intelligence features.
