Hell of a graphics card: ASUS ROG will release a limited edition GeForce RTX 5080 in the style of DOOM: The Dark Age

ASUS decided to combine two important events and in honour of the upcoming release of DOOM: The Dark Ages and the 30th anniversary of its own graphics cards announced a special version of GeForce RTX 5080.

The Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand has started cooperation with Bethesda and id Software and introduced a limited edition ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM Edition graphics cards.

The novelty received an aggressive design in the best traditions of DOOM. Here's how ASUS describes the design of the graphics card:

With an eye-catching green-gold colour scheme, DOOM Slayer artwork on the rear panel and bright green fans modelled after the Shield Saw, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM Edition pays homage to the latest installment of the franchise. For added flavour, the rear mounting bracket and heatsink are also adorned in gold to accentuate the theme. Subtle iconography and guardian figures around the frame of the card further connect it to the story surrounding the game, increasing its appeal to gamers and collectors.

To recap the specs of the GeForce RTX 5080, a powerful graphics card from NVIDIA, released on 30 January 2025:

  • architecture: Blackwell 2.0, 5nm process technology;
  • GPU: GB203;
  • memory capacity: 16GB GDDR7;
  • core frequency: 2295 MHz (Boost to 2617 MHz);
  • memory bandwidth: 960 GB/s;
  • power consumption: 360W;
  • interface: PCIe 5.0 x16.

This graphics card is designed for gamers and provides high performance in modern games, and in thematic design in the style of DOOM: The Dark Ages it will become a decoration of any computer.

The ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM Edition will be sold exclusively at the Bethesda Gear Store and will come bundled with an exclusive t-shirt, mouse pad, yellow key card, ROG-exclusive DOOM Slayer Legionary game skin and an optional Premium Edition of the game.

The price and launch date have yet to be officially announced, but looking at the specs and branding, there's no doubt that you'll have to pay a lot for beauty and performance.
