New Fold 7 could be twice as thin as the first Galaxy Fold
Samsung plans to set a new record - Galaxy Fold 7 may become the thinnest foldable smartphone on the market.
Here's What We Know
According to insider @TheGalox_, the device will be only 8.2 mm thick when folded - thinner than the Oppo Find N5 (8.9 mm) and more than 30% thinner than the previous Fold 6. If this is confirmed, the Galaxy Fold 7 will be the thinnest book-format smartphone ever.
According to the leak, the new product will be almost twice as thin as the original Galaxy Fold and 4 mm thinner than last year's model. Such progress came as a surprise, as earlier rumours of a 9.5 mm thickness were more realistic. How Samsung managed to reduce the size without losing important features is still unknown. The company is likely to change the way the S Pen works, replacing the built-in digital layer with an Apple Pencil-like approach.
The Galaxy Fold 7 is expected to feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (Elite Edition) chip, allowing it to compete with thinner rivals such as the Honor Magic V3 and Oppo Find N5. Although the price of over $1900 may seem high, the compact size may justify the cost. However, these are all just rumours at the moment, and we'll find out the final details at the Galaxy Unpacked presentation in July.
