Marathon developers are still looking for the perfect solution for implementing proximity chat, but you shouldn't wait for it to be released
Speaking about the upcoming relaunch of the Marathon shooter, players are looking forward to new details of the gameplay, and one of the interesting features may be proximity chat, which allows you to communicate with opponents, which is inherent in games in the extraction shooter genre. Game director Joe Ziegler recently shared the latest information about this feature, noting that the team is still working on how it will be implemented in the game.
Here's What We Know
According to Ziegler, the implementation of proximity chat is not an easy task, especially given the requirements for compliance and player safety. Therefore, we probably should not expect this feature to appear immediately after the game release.
"We are still trying to figure out how to do this and what form it will take in our game. Probably not at the start, as there are compliance and security issues," Joe Ziegler said.
However, such comments still cause scepticism, because you can simply add the ability to enable or disable proximity chat and that's it, but the developers have some strange vision.
Marathon will be released on 23 September on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5.
