Portal Battle is Back: Online Shooter Splitgate 2 Opens Large-Scale Beta on 22 May

If you missed the recent alpha test of the portal shooter Splitgate 2, don't feel bad. The developers from 1047 Games have announced great news: a much larger open beta will start on May 22!

Here's What We Know

The first hints of the May beta appeared back in March, when 1047 Games shared an infographic with the results of the alpha test: over 500,000 matches played, 20 million portals opened, and 59 million kills.

At that time, the studio intrigued players: "We'll share more details as soon as we can, but for now, just mark May on your calendars. And just to be sure, you can even take the whole month off. We promise we'll share the exact dates as soon as we can. You won't want to miss it. The open beta will have much more content than the open alpha. Much more."

And now, we finally know the exact date of the beta and a list of some of the promised features. Among the most interesting:

• 25+ weapons - including the all-new Borealis, an energy carbine weapon.
• 15+ maps - including two new large-scale maps for the 24-player Invasion mode: "Drought and Rift.
• 10+ modes - with the triumphant return of the fan-favourite Elimination mode, where teams fight to destroy all members of the enemy team before they can be revived.

In addition, the studio intrigued players with the mention of "endless maps" in the announcement, although the details of this feature will be revealed closer to the start of beta testing.
