For the first time in the history of foldable smartphones, Samsung will abandon the traditional Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. According to the South Korean media, the new Galaxy Flip 7 will feature the proprietary Exynos 2500 chip, and mass production of the device will begin in May.

Here's What We Know

Previously, all Samsung foldable smartphones were powered exclusively by Snapdragon. The Galaxy Flip 7 was expected to receive the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (Elite for Galaxy), but rumours of Exynos 2500 testing emerged at the end of last year. Initially, the company planned to install this chip in the flagship Galaxy S25 series, but due to the low yield of suitable chips (less than 60%), the idea was abandoned.

However, the production volumes of Galaxy Flip are much lower than those of Galaxy S, so Samsung is ready to work even with the current Exynos 2500 performance of 20-40% availability. This move may help the company avoid high prices for Qualcomm chips in the future, which increase the cost of components by double-digit percentages every year.

The Galaxy Flip 7 is likely to be unveiled in July. The launch of mass production of the Exynos 2500 will allow Samsung to gain experience in 3nm production. This will be the basis for improving the next generation of the 2-nm process, which is extremely important for the company's long-term competitiveness.

Insiders say that the Flip7 will have a larger external display - almost rectangular at 4 inches instead of the current 3.4". The battery is also expected to increase to 4300 mAh (compared to 4000 mAh in the Flip6), although the charging speed will remain unchanged. The cameras will remain the same as in the Flip6: 50+12 MP.
