Huawei unveiled Smart Door Lock 2, which recognises owners' palms

Huawei has launched a new model of Smart Door Lock 2 in China, which is the successor to the device introduced in 2022.

Here's What We Know

The lock features an innovative palm vein recognition system powered by artificial intelligence, making it convenient for the whole family to use. Other unlocking methods include a fingerprint scanner, password, physical key, and remote lock opening is also available via a smartphone or smart home control panel.

The device is equipped with an inbuilt camera with a wide 161° viewing angle, which allows visitors to be identified using AI-based human recognition technology. The image is displayed on the internal display or connected devices such as Huawei TVs. There is also a two-way communication function and the ability to view live video.

The lock features HarmonyOS 5 and a 10,000 mAh battery that provides five months of battery life. There are also backup batteries for the lock's main functions and an emergency power button. The Smart Door Lock 2 is priced at 2,499 yuan (~$344). It is not yet known if this smart lock will be available outside of China.
