Google has started to gradually introduce a new Gemini widget for the Android home screen. It is designed in the style of Material You (Material 3) and supports dynamic colouring according to the system theme.

Here's What We Know

The widget appears in the Gemini app version 1.0.751104895 and is already available in the Play Store, or you can install it manually.

The widget has a flexible size - from a compact 1×1 to a large 5×3 that takes up a significant part of the screen. In its horizontal format, the user gets quick access to several functions: a flash icon opens the app with an active keyboard, a microphone for voice input, and a camera for adding images.

The widget also includes shortcuts for uploading files and selecting images from the gallery, as well as a quick transition to Gemini Live in full screen mode. The square format features a 2×2 grid with an "Ask Gemini" search bar at the top.

The widget is compatible with Android 10 and later devices. Google reports that the full implementation is expected within the next week.

Google representatives disclosed that 350 million people use the Gemini chatbot every month. And while in October 2024, Gemini was accessed by 9 million users daily, in March, their number was 35 million. Thus, according to Google, ChatGPT is used by about 600 million people every month, and Meta AI - 500 million.
