The battle for the title of the best streaming platform never ends, and a recent report by StreamsCharts shows that Twitch is starting to lose the battle. According to analysts, TikTok Live made a real breakthrough in the first quarter of 2025, almost doubling Twitch's market share in terms of hours watched.

Here's What We Know

It is worth noting that TikTok has a much larger audience than Twitch, and the mechanisms for discovering new content on this platform are much more efficient. However, even with this in mind, TikTok Live managed to win 27% of all watched hours of broadcasts in the first quarter of 2025, while Twitch barely managed to scrape by with 16.3%.

According to the StreamsCharts report, Twitch is only third in the broader streaming market, behind YouTube and TikTok. If you're wondering where Kick.com is, the platform is ranked fourth with approximately 2.9% of all watched hours in the first quarter of 2025.

Data analysis showed that YouTube controls more than 50% of the total viewership, with YouTube Gaming accounting for 7% of this figure. However, when it comes to gaming content, Twitch is still the leader. Although the Amazon-owned platform only gained 16.3% of the total viewer base, it has a 12.6% share of the gaming market. In comparison, TikTok's share of the gaming streaming scene is only 3.3%.

TikTok is actively gaining momentum in the gaming sector, but most streamers use it as an additional source of income rather than the main platform. Over the past few months, esports tournaments have started to appear on the platform, but most users still perceive TikTok as a place for aimless scrolling rather than serious streaming.
