BBC 'resurrects' Agatha Christie using AI to teach detective writing course
BBC Studios has recreated the image and voice of Agatha Christie using artificial intelligence. The late writer is featured as the teacher of a new online course on writing the perfect detective.
Here's What We Know
Agatha Christie's character is recreated from her interviews, personal letters and recordings. The bodily prototype was real-life actress Vivien Keene. Her appearance and voice were modified using AI.
The writer's great-grandson James Prichard said in a press release that Agatha Christie's Deep Fake teachings are laid out "by Agatha herself." Ideas from the real Christie were used to create the course, and the script was written by academics - so the content appears to be man-made, rather than generated from the digital model that has been injected into all of her work.
A new online course called Agatha Christie Writing is available now on BBC Maestro. You can buy individual materials for £79 or access the whole course as part of an annual subscription for £120. The full course includes 11 video lessons and 12 practical assignments, including how to build a flawless plot, create tension and memorable characters.
BBC Maestro also features courses on graphic design, cookery, performance enhancement and more.
