Fans of the long-awaited metroidvania Hollow Knight: Silksong by Team Cherry, which still has no official release date, will finally be able to play it on 18 September. However, to do this, they will have to go to the National Museum of Screen Culture in Australia.

Here's What We Know

According to IGN, the game will be available for review at the Melbourne museum as part of the exhibition called Game Worlds. In addition to the opportunity to play Silksong, the exhibition will also include a demonstration of the game's artwork and design solutions. As Team Cherry is based in Adelaide, Australia, the appearance of Hollow Knight: Silksong at the Melbourne exhibition is not a surprise. In a statement to IGN, exhibition co-curators Bethan Johnson and Gini Maxwell expressed their gratitude to Team Cherry for their confidence in their work.

"Since first announcing Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2019, it has remained one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet," the curators said, "and we are thrilled to be celebrating the South Australian game's design as the centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."

It is currently unknown how much of Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available for play during the exhibition, and whether this museum appearance means a possible official release date in September (or earlier). Changes to the game's Steam metadata and its temporary disappearance from the Nintendo eShop earlier this year have given fans hope for a release date, but Team Cherry is still keeping fans in suspense.

Hollow Knight: Silksong made a brief appearance during the Nintendo Switch 2 launch last month, where it was listed as a game coming in 2025 for Nintendo's new console. Later, Team Cherry confirmed that the game will be released on both Switch versions. First announced in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong was originally planned for PC and Nintendo Switch, and later it was announced that it would be released on Xbox (including Game Pass), as well as PlayStation 4 and 5. Now, fans can only wonder if the September demonstration at the museum will be the first public gaming experience before the long-awaited release.
