"Who is Yennefer?": the actress who voiced the iconic sorceress in The Witcher 3 stuns with an unexpected confession
Denise Gough plays Jennefer of Wengerberg in The Witcher 3, undoubtedly one of the most important and fan-favourite characters in the game. Her proximity to the protagonist, Geralt of Rivia, makes her one of the first and most obvious candidates for a romantic relationship, and her powerful magic and significant influence on the plot are undeniable. However, as it turned out, Gough herself was not even aware of all this.
Here's What We Know
In a recent interview with Eurogamer, discussing her role as Dedra Miro in the TV series Andor, Denise Gough made a startling confession. The actress said that when she was recording her lines for The Witcher 3 in 2015, she had absolutely no idea who she was voicing. Moreover, she didn't even know about the existence of The Witcher 4, which is currently being developed by CD Projekt RED.
"I didn't know what I was doing. I had never worked on a video game before. And then a lot of people - usually men - came up to me in the sound departments on the set and asked: "Are you Jennefer?" And I would say: "Who's Jennefer?"
Given that The Witcher 4 will revolve around Ciri, and Jenefer has been a kind of mentor for her for some time, there is a high probability that the sorceress will appear in the new game. Whether Denise Gough is just trying to distract us with her unexpected statements or whether she really won't be in the game remains a mystery.
