In mid-2024, at its annual WWDC event, Apple announced the introduction of advanced Apple Intelligence capabilities into its Siri voice assistant so that the programme could help users even more effectively.

Apple promised a quick rollout of AI capabilities, but that still hasn't happened.

Here's What We Know

The Siri situation was commented on by Apple CEO Tim Cook. He admitted that the integration of Apple Intelligence has been greatly delayed in time and it is still unknown when Siri will "get smarter".

The executive emphasised that the company is committed to keeping the quality bar high and will provide users with the most thoughtful and efficient system possible, but that they need a little more time to do so.

In terms of the more personal Siri features we've announced, we need more time to finalise these features to meet our high bar of quality. We are making progress and look forward to bringing these features to customers.

Siri was expected to get AI with the iOS 18 update, but it's now unclear if it will appear in the first release of iOS 19 or if it will have to wait even longer. It's possible that Apple Intelligence won't be introduced until 2026.
