It looks like the anti-gravity Speeder bike from Star Wars will soon cease to be sci-fi and become a familiar vehicle.

Polish engineer Tomasz Patan has presented his own development, which causes admiration and can revolutionise individual transport.

Here's What We Know

Tomasz Patan - co-founder and CTO of Jetson - showed the world the Volonaut Airbike, which is an advanced jet-powered air vehicle designed to carry one person.

If everything is as the manufacturer claims, the device is no less admirable than the ground-based four-legged machine from Kawasaki.

The Volonaut Airbike is controlled by two joysticks and body tilts, while an on-board computer stabilises the device, increasing safety and control during flight.

The Volonaut's performance is impressive - the speeder can accelerate up to 200 km/h, and the lack of rotating propellers increases manoeuvrability, allowing you to move in tight spaces, and in three dimensions.

The Airbike is about 7 times lighter than a conventional motorbike, made possible by the use of advanced carbon fibre materials, 3D printing technology and a minimalist approach to design.

It is not yet known when the Volonaut Airbike will be available for sale, but one can't help but be excited by the very fact that such technology is available.
