Media: because of the foldable iPhone model, Apple may change the release schedule of new smartphones
In 2026, the first foldable iPhone model is expected to be released - this will be such an important event for Apple that the company may reconsider the concept of releasing its gadgets.
Here's What We Know
According to The Information, Apple will make significant changes to its usual iPhone release schedule to make room for a foldable smartphone marketing campaign.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 18 Air and the foldable iPhone in autumn 2026. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 18 and the budget variant that will replace the iPhone 16E won't be released until spring 2027.
Thus, the expensive premium models will be on sale first, and then more affordable models will hit the market six months after that.
Flashback
According to insiders, the diagonal of the inner screen of Apple's foldable gadget will be 7.8″ without folds, while the outer screen will be 5.5″. When folded, the device will be 9 to 9.5mm thick, while when unfolded it will be 4.5mm to 4.8mm thick.
The foldable iPhone will get a titanium alloy body, liquid metal hinge, dual rear camera and single front camera. The device will probably be equipped with Face ID instead of Touch ID.
The foldable iPhone is expected to cost $2100-2300, making it one of the most expensive members of its class (but a tariff war could make a difference).
