Despite the instant launch on Game Pass and the lack of a traditional marketing campaign, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered became the third best-selling game release of the year in the US in its first week of sales. It was outsold only by Monster Hunter Wilds and Assassin's Creed Shadows, which is a real triumph for the remaster of the almost 20-year-old classic.

Here's What We Know

Oblivion Remastered was released on 22 April with almost no prior advertising - Bethesda simply released the game immediately after the announcement, and gamers learned about its existence from leaks and rumours. Nevertheless, this was enough: according to Circana, in just a week, the remastered game became the best-selling game in the US for the week, and by the end of the year, it is second only to two high-profile new releases.

It is especially impressive that these figures are only sales: players who received Oblivion Remastered through a Game Pass subscription are not included in the statistics. A few days after the release, Bethesda announced that more than 4 million players have already returned to Cyrodiil across all platforms, including PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

On Steam, the game has set a new record for simultaneous players for story-driven RPGs in 2025 - more than 205 thousand users at the peak. Oblivion Remastered also ranked first in terms of active users on Steam in the US, fourth on Xbox, and fifteenth on PlayStation.

The game's popularity is expected to continue to grow as Virtuos prepares major updates.
