Next Battlefield release window looks clearer after GTA VI release date postponed and revealed, says EA
We wrote that Battlefield 6 has received a release window and is planned to be released by March 2026, and EA itself hints at a profitable launch after the postponement of GTA 6.
Here's What We Know
Although the exact date has not yet been announced, EA CEO Andrew Wilson hinted that the postponement of GTA 6 to May 2026 creates a "less competitive" launch window for Battlefield 6, and the team is confidently preparing for the release.
During the financial report for the fourth quarter of 2025, Wilson was directly asked how the change in the release date of its main competitor would affect Battlefield's plans. As always, he gave a diplomatic answer, avoiding direct references to GTA 6, but he made it clear: EA is not going to launch Battlefield at a time when gamers' attention will be fully focused on Rockstar's mega-hit. "We've always tried to choose the best window for Battlefield, and it looks much clearer now than it did before," Wilson said, adding that a launch in fiscal year 2026 (between April 2025 and March 2026) is quite realistic.
Battlefield 6 is being developed by four EA studios at once, and players will see the return of the classic class system familiar from the previous parts of the map, as well as a modern setting in the spirit of Battlefield 3 and 4. The game can already be seen in short pre-alpha teasers, and a large-scale Battlefield Labs programme will be launched soon, where the community will be able to influence the balance, destruction and key game mechanics for the first time.
The official big announcement of Battlefield 6 is scheduled for the summer of 2025. The developers promise the return of a single-player campaign, classic Conquest and Breakthrough modes, as well as new ideas that will be tested together with players through Battlefield Labs.
