Control 2 has officially entered the full development phase: Remedy is preparing a large-scale action RPG with a budget of €50 million
Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that the development of Control 2 has moved into full production. The next game in the action universe in 2019 will be a larger game project with RPG elements, and the sequel's budget is about 50 million euros.
Here's What We Know
After several years of preparation and conceptual prototyping, Control 2 has officially entered the active development phase, which will last from 15 to 26 months. The game is being developed by a team of more than 75 in-house Remedy developers and about 200 outsourced specialists. The studio is cooperating with Annapurna Pictures, which is financing half of the budget and has acquired the rights to film adaptations of Control and Alan Wake.
Control 2 promises to be an action-RPG with an expanded world and new mechanics, including an improved combat system and a deeper role-playing component. However, the plot is still a secret.
Remedy CEO Tero Virtala noted that the budget of Control 2 is less than that of Alan Wake 2, but it is enough to create a quality game that will pay off with sales of 2-3 million copies. If Control 2 exceeds these figures and sells 4-5 million copies, it will be a great victory for the studio.
