The first previews of journalists who personally tested Death Stranding 2: On the Beach in Tokyo unanimously state that this is not just a sequel, but a real breakthrough for the series. Players will have a journey through Mexico and Australia, new threats, even more freedom of choice, and unique social mechanics.

Here's What We Know

Death Stranding 2 takes us to a world where the protagonist Sam Bridges faces a new reality: his job has been replaced by the artificial intelligent system Automated Porter Assistant System. Against this background, players get even more opportunities for exploration, strategy, and interaction with the environment.

The game is striking in its detail - from the desert landscapes of Mexico to the exotic nature of Australia. Each location looks photorealistic, and the new weather system adds a real challenge: rains cause floods, strong winds can throw you off course, and earthquakes or fires force you to quickly change tactics. Players can use the latest equipment, customise backpacks and vehicles, and even monorail systems are available for movement.

The combat system has been completely rethought: it now resembles Metal Gear Solid with a wide range of tactical approaches. You can choose between a direct assault, stealth, or avoiding fights altogether by using smoke grenades or holographic devices. There are new types of enemies, both human and otherworldly creatures (BT), as well as completely new bosses.

Another important new feature is the leveling system: Sam now has 12 skill levels, which depend on the style of play. The more you move through difficult terrain or engage in combat, the faster the corresponding skills grow. And thanks to APAS Enhancement, you can flexibly customise your character's characteristics using the "memories" collected in the world.

Visually, the game is impressive - even on a basic PS5, it runs steadily at 60 FPS, and the soundtrack adds atmosphere to every journey. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released on 26 June 2025, and owners of collector's and deluxe editions will get early access 48 hours earlier.

As a reminder, Sony is releasing a limited edition DualSense in honour of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach - pre-orders start on 22 May.
