The new Nintendo Switch 2, which is scheduled for release on 5 June 2025, has every chance of becoming the fastest-selling console in the company's history. According to its latest financial report, Nintendo expects to sell around 15 million Switch 2 units by the end of March 2026, which is more than the original Switch did in the same period.

Here's What We Know

The original Nintendo Switch sold 14.87 million consoles in the first year of sales, and Switch 2 is expected to surpass this result. The console is expected to sell 45 million copies of games.

At the same time, Nintendo warns of possible supply problems due to high demand and the impact of tariffs imposed by the Donald Trump administration in the United States. These duties could lead to higher prices or reduced production, which in turn could affect the availability of the device.

Overall, the Nintendo Switch has sold more than 152 million units, putting it in second place behind the Nintendo DS with 154 million units sold. The number of active users of the console remains high at around 128 million.

The report also confirmed the release of the expected exclusives: Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are scheduled for release in 2025.
