Apple is actively working on the first foldable iPhone, and its screen will be manufactured by Samsung Display. However, according to new rumours, this screen will have a feature that is not available in the Galaxy Fold series.

Here's What We Know

According to information from Korean insiders, the touch layer will be integrated directly into the panel itself, which will reduce the overall thickness of the assembly by about 19%. In addition, the weight of the screen will also be reduced. This step is part of a manufacturing improvement process that will allow Samsung Display to achieve the desired thickness and brightness levels for Apple.

It is known that the company has made significant efforts to ensure high standards of colour reproduction and peak brightness, as this contract with Apple is of great importance to Samsung.

Interestingly, this technology is not provided for Samsung Fold smartphones. Samsung is likely to introduce similar innovations in its own models over time. At the same time, it is possible that the company will remain faithful to its strategy, where the cost of production is crucial.

Given the high prices of Apple's sophisticated smartphones, it is important to note that the possible costs of such innovations are not so critical for Apple.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo's previous insights, the diagonal of the foldable gadget's inner screen will be 7.8″ without folds, and the outer screen will be 5.5″. When folded, the thickness of the device will be from 9 to 9.5 mm, and when opened - from 4.5 to 4.8 mm.
