Garmin has released a new beta version for its Fenix 8 and Tactix 8 smartwatches. The update, called Voice Command Files v1.12, became available after the launch of beta version 15.26 in April 2025.

Here's What We Know

This update adds improvements to the voice assistant running directly on the watch, although specific details of the changes were not provided.

The new Voice Command tool allows users to use voice commands to perform various operations, such as "find phone", "turn on airplane mode", or "increase brightness". Thanks to the built-in microphone and speaker, Fenix 8 and Tactix 8 owners can use this functionality to control the device without having to touch the screen.

Garmin notes that the update includes 17 files for different languages, but has not yet explained how this improvement will affect users. Also, some users have noted that after installing the beta versions of 15.26 and Voice Command Files v1.12, they have experienced an unexpected decrease in battery life on their devices. The company has not yet commented on this issue or offered a solution.

Voice Command Files v1.12 is available for all Fenix 8 (47mm AMOLED) and compatible models. If you would like to join Garmin's beta testing programme, you can sign up through Garmin Connect. For more information on the testing programme, please visit the company's support page.
