Directed by Christoph Hahn, the creator of the controversial 2006 film, Return to Silent Hill promises to be as close as possible to the plot of the legendary Silent Hill 2 game. The US distribution rights were acquired by Cineverse.

Here's What We Know

Unlike the first film adaptation, which received mixed reviews due to numerous deviations from the game's plot, the new film aims to convey the atmosphere and story of the original Silent Hill 2 as accurately as possible. According to the director, it is a "mythological love story" where the protagonist James Sunderland, who is broken after breaking up with his beloved Mary, receives a mysterious letter calling him back to the town of Silent Hill. There, he encounters terrifying creatures and begins to unravel terrifying secrets in an attempt to save his true love.

The film stars Jeremy Irvine, known for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, as James, and Hannah Emily Anderson from Jigsaw as Mary Shepherd-Sunderland.

Christoph Hahn shared his excitement about working with Cineverse, which he said "really understands the fans". He added that Return to Silent Hill is being created with a deep respect for Konami's masterpiece and hopes that fans will enjoy this new experience.

The film was shot in studios in Germany and Eastern Europe and is currently in post-production. The exact release date has not yet been announced.
