The Russian holding company High-Precision Complexes has handed over another batch of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles with Nakidka kits to the Russian Armed Forces.

Here's What We Know

The BMPs of the new batch are equipped with anti-cumulative grilles, armour screens and upper hemisphere protection kits as standard. In addition, each vehicle received a "Nakidka" type of visibility reduction kit - a system of synthetic heat-insulating and radio-absorbing material. The combat vehicles are also equipped with electronic warfare equipment.

In early April, it was reported that the Russians had examined the captured M2A2 Bradley and found that the American vehicle had a complete advantage over the BMP-3. The M2A2 ODS SA is superior to the BMP-3 in terms of resistance to shells and bullets, and has better mine protection due to its two-layer design.

The M2A2 ODS SA also outperforms the BMP-3 in terms of firepower: the 25mm M242 automatic cannon has a twofold higher rate of fire than the 30mm 2A42 and 2A72 cannons, which significantly increases the effective range.

In terms of operational and technical characteristics, the M2A2 ODS SA has advantages in terms of ease of access from the landing gear to the combat compartment, and better maintainability of the power unit. Maintenance of the main components is faster and less labour intensive due to easy access to them.
